EDEN, N.C. — An Eden woman is facing multiple charges after officers say she left her dog to die while she traveled with a friend to Virginia.

According to the Eden Police Department, officers responded to 507 Washburn Avenue on Oct. 18 after receiving a call in reference to a missing person named Ashley Patterson. When they arrived on scene, officers looked through the window and saw a dead dog in the residence.

The Eden Police Department said it determined Patterson had gone to Virginia with a friend and left the dog unattended and with no one to care for it.

Patterson, 40, has been charged with one felony count of animal cruelty and one felony count of manufacturing marijuana. She is not in custody at this time.

Anyone with information regarding Patterson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Lieutenant David Stepps or Detective Tyson Scales at 336-623-9755 (24hr) or 336-623-9240 ext. 325 (8 a.m to 6 p.m.).
