Man injured in shooting near Glenwood Ave. in Greensboro, police say

Greensboro police confirmed that one man was shot and taken to a nearby hospital.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — One person was shot on Glenwood Avenue early Friday morning, Greensboro police said.

Officers responded to the area just before 3 a.m. They said one man was shot and taken to a nearby hospital.

Neighbors told WFMY News 2's Amber Lake that it was a scary morning for many who live in that area, blocks away from UNCG’s campus.

Greensboro Police said they, along with UNCG police, responded to the area after getting calls about gunshots.

One neighbor said she had children and feared for their safety.

Nancy Effle said, "It's scary because you never know; a bullet can go that way, any direction, and somebody that is resting can be hit by a bullet."

The road was blocked off while officers investigated the area.

Again, one man was found on the road with gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital.

He's in stable condition.

Greensboro police aren’t able to tell us if a suspect is in custody, but they did say there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Police are asking anyone with information to please contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
