PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A Pilot Mountain man shot and killed his wife Wednesday night, according to Stoke County Sheriff's Deputies.
Sammy Collins is in jail with no bond allowed. He's been charged with murder.
Investigators said they got a 911 call about a shooting on Knobview Lane in Pilot Mountain around 8:30 p.m. When they got there, they found Collins' wife, Tammy Hodges, shot. EMS tried to save her life, but she died at the scene.
The sheriff's office said they don't know the motive behind the shooting and they're still investigating. They said the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is also helping them in the case.
