BURLINGTON, N.C. — A man is dead after an overnight shooting in Burlington, according to police.
They said the shooting happened just before 11:50 p.m. Monday when they responded to Bellvue Street about a shooting.
Officers found a 24-year-old Kemori Booth suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital in Greensboro where he later died from injuries.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident as a homicide. Investigators suggest that Booth was at home and fought with someone he knew. The suspect was not there when police arrived on the scene.
At this time, police believe this was a targeted shooting and there is not an ongoing threat to the public.
This investigation is ongoing.
