MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — Over 30 people have been arrested and charged in connection to a two-year investigation into drug trafficking and money laundering, according to Sheriff Ronnie Fields from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
A majority of the people charged are from North Carolina. According to deputies, there are seven people from both the High Point and Winston-Salem areas who have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, deputies have seized 30 kilograms of fentanyl, 80 kilograms of methamphetamine, 14 kilograms of cocaine, and over $600,000 in cash.
Deputies said they collaborated with local, state, and federal agencies during the investigation.
The investigation was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative. Deputies said the program aims “to dismantle criminal networks that pose a significant threat to communities across the United States.”
“The sale of illicit drugs and the violence often associated with these crimes remain a pressing concern for our community. This investigation underscores the importance of partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies. Together, we have made a substantial impact on criminal networks that threaten our streets with death and destruction,” Fields said in a statement.
