FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Fayetteville police have arrested a woman in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
According to WNCN, 23-year-old, Jeanie Ditty was arrested Thursday on charges of first-degree murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury for the death of her daughter. Police are searching for her boyfriend, 32-year-old Zachary Keefer, on the same charges.
WNCN also reports, Ditty is an active soldier at Fort Bragg since 2013.
Warrants say Ditty told police she called Keefer when her daughter, Macy Grace, wasn't feeling well Dec. 2. She said her daughter began making a strange noise and then appeared to be choking on vomit. She then called 911.
The child was taken to a hospital. Police were called because she had bruises all over her body. She was then taken to another hospital, where she died.
The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
