Multiple people, including NC A&T students injured after hit-and-run in Greensboro, officials say

Greensboro police were called to the area of S. Eugene St. and W. Whittington St. about a hit-and-run, where multiple people were injured.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Multiple people were injured on South Eugene St. in a hit-and-run crash in Greensboro on Friday, March 29, according to police.

Police said they have a vehicle of interest that they suspected injured 11 people. Currently, police have not released details on the vehicle of interest. A spokesperson with North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T) confirmed that 4 of those injured were students.

No arrests have been made, and investigators request that anyone with video of the incident submit it to Crime Stoppers.

The Greensboro Police Department said the most severe injuries reported were broken bones; No injuries were considered life-threatening.

Neighbors who live off Whittington Street said they can't believe someone would do this.

"I’m frustrated a little bit because I would say with the black community, I don’t want people to think "oh, if it’s a black event that’s normally going to be someone shooting or something bad is about to happen." I want everybody to realize that it’s not always going down like that. It’s just now and then you might find a bad apple or two in a crowd that wants to just ruin everybody’s fun,” said Emilio Maz.

Before the crash, Greensboro police officers were in the area to assist with crowd control and traffic. Police said there were no incidents involving any GPD officer regarding the use of force or the initiation of any pursuit.

NC A&T confirmed that this crash is not associated with the university or campus events.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
