FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — More women have come forward saying they too were followed by Trevor Lewis. Forsyth County deputies said all the reports have one thing in common.
Deputies said all the women who reported Lewis to police said he claimed to be looking for his lost dog. Deputies said that's also what he claimed when they found him hiding under a woman's car Sunday.
Capt. Robert Shinault recalled what happened. He said they went out to a home on Kenbridge Drive for reports of a suspicious person. When they got there, they found Lewis underneath a woman's car. His excuse, he was looking for his lost dog. During the investigation, deputies said they learned Lewis followed the woman home from Walmart.
Stories like these remind people to always be on the lookout.
"Unfortunately, we can't do anything about all the bad people that are in the world, but we need to look out for ourselves. So, I never walk in a dark parking lot by myself, I don't go out late at night by myself, I watch my surroundings to see who's near me. So that's what I do to try and keep myself safe," explained a Forsyth County resident.
The sheriff's office said from 2019-2023 Lewis has been arrested on several stalking charges and a sexual battery charge by different women. Officials say Lewis was out on pre-trial release for a previous stalking charge when he was arrested once again.
As we approach the holiday season more people will be out and about deputies urge everyone to be on the lookout, especially women.
"Make sure you are watching your surroundings, don't always take the same way home all the time, be sure to always look behind you, be sure that no one's following you. This time of year, it's a lot of people out," said Capt. Shinault.
Lewis is currently in the Forsyth County jail being held without bond.
Deputies think there may be more victims out there that haven't come forward yet, if you do recognize Lewis, they ask you to give them a call.
