CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) -- After his bond was lowered to $20,000, Angelo Grayson Smith, Jr. bailed out of Mecklenburg County Jail on Wednesday night.
Smith is the boyfriend of missing Guilford County Schools teacher, Bianca Tanner. Police say he is person of interest in her disappearance.
Earlier in the day, Smith went before a judge to try to get his $100,000 bond changed. His family was by his side as his attorney argued for a lower bond.
The judge dropped his bond to $20,000 and ordered Smith to be placed on house arrest and electronic monitoring. He will be allowed to work a job.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe says he believes Smith has not been truthful with investigators. Smith's attorney says while he respects the chief and his opinion, he disagrees and believes Smith is telling investigators the truth.
Smith's next court date is set for August 12.
