Men Armed With Pipe Tries to Rob Store, Leave Empty Handed When Customer Walks In: Police

Police say two men who tried to rob the Quality Mart on Country Club Road didn't get what they were looking for after a customer walked in.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem Police are looking for more information after an attempted armed robbery overnight Sunday.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery report at the Quality Mart on Country Club Road involving two men wearing hooded sweatshirts.

One man showed the clerk he had a pipe and tried to take money.

Someone then entered the business and surprised the men who left without taking anything.

Police were told the suspects left in a white vehicle with tinted windows,  speeding on Country Club Road towards Jonestown Road.

There were no injuries. The case is still under investigation.
