NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Va. authorities are investigating after two men allegedly doused a hamster with gasoline and set it on fire.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the men shared a video of the abuse on the message sharing app Snapchat. The Virginia Beach Animal Control Unit says it received a complaint and questioned the men the next day.
Investigators say one of the men brought the hamster to his friend's house to feed to his pet snake. One of the men claims the reptile bit the rodent but didn't kill it. Sometime afterward, the animal was set on fire.
No charges are currently listed for either man in online court records. But search warrants have been filed for a cellphone belonging to one of the men.
