Poloche was a 14-year veteran of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. He joined the NCDAC's Special Operations and Intelligence Unit in 2013. Poloche was a full-time member of the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Task Force.

Poloche is survived by his wife and two children.

"This loss is profound," Gov. Roy Cooper said last week, calling the officers killed in the shooting "heroes who will not be forgotten."

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Uptown Monday afternoon. Poloche's celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. with a private burial in Monroe following the service.

WCNC Charlotte will have coverage of the caisson procession escorting Poloche to the church at 12:30 p.m. There will be no live coverage of the memorial service as the family has requested privacy.
