WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Editor's note: The video featured is when Christopher Paz was arrested for the shooting in March.
The man who shot a gun into a Winston-Salem Little Caesars Pizza's drive-thru in March pled guilty in court Wednesday, according to the Forsyth County District Attorney's office.
Christopher Paz, 29, was sentenced 18-34 months and suspended for 3 years for shooting into a Little Caesar's Pizza while at the drive-thru window in March. In addition, he was sentenced to an active term of imprisonment of 3 1/2 months.
The Honorable Michael Duncan, Superior Court Judge, presided over the case on Monday where he heard Paz's plea.
The shooting happened at the Silas Creek Parkway location.
When officers arrived at the pizza place, they said no one was shot. They spoke with a drive-thru employee who said Paz was upset with the order that he received at the drive-thru window and asked for a new order. Paz got upset and demanded a full refund.
Before the cashier could process the refund, Paz took his gun out. As the cashier moved away from the window, Paz pulled out a gun and shot once into the drive-thru window in the direction of the cashier.
The bullet hit a wall inside of the store, but no one was injured.
The incident was caught on surveillance video.
Paz was in the drive-thru driving a tan or brown Quad Cab Dodge pickup truck.
Police searched the area for him, but they did not find him until he was identified by investigators.
Once Paz turned himself in, he was charged with the following:
- Discharging Firearms into Occupied Dwelling
- Discharging Firearms in City Limits
- Attempted Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Assault by Pointing a Gun
- Injury to Personal Property
Paz was represented by Ben Porter with Matt Breeding appearing on behalf of the State.
