BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police say a toy gun robber was disarmed by his own victim who knew the weapon wasn't real.
Tyrece Antwane Moore was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Burlington Police responded to the armed robbery in progress early Wednesday morning at the Speedway gas station on E. Webb Avenue.
Police say a man wearing a bandana over his face confronted a couple that was just leaving the store. He had what looked like an AR-15 rifle, but the victim recognized it was an airsoft gun and fought him.
There was a scuffle between the two men, but eventually the victim was able to disarm the would-be robber.
Several bystanders stopped Moore from leaving the scene until police arrived.
Moore is in Alamance County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
