Man dead after assault at Salem Lake Park in Winston-Salem, police say

Winston-Salem police said the death of 27-year-old Rodney Dwight Adams, Jr. is being investigated as a homicide.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man found with head injuries has died Friday after being assaulted at Salem Lake Park in March, Winston-Salem police say. 

Officers responded to Salem Lake Park around 7:50 a.m. on March 21. They received a call regarding a person, identified as 27-year-old Rodney Dwight Adams, Jr., who appeared to have been assaulted lying on the sidewalk. 

Adams was unresponsive and had severe injuries to the head. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries. 

On Friday, Adams died from his injuries. The incident is now being investigated as a homicide. 

Officers said this was not a random act of violence and there was no danger to the community.
