ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man was cited for showing a weapon during a road rage incident while leaving the Trump rally held in Asheboro on Wednesday, Aug. 21, according to the Asheboro Police Department.
The incident happened after the Trump rally ended and away from the event site, police said.
The individual was detained and the incident was investigated, police said.
Police determined during a road rage incident, a weapon was displayed from inside a vehicle. They clarified the weapon was not pointed at anyone.
Police said the suspect did not threaten anyone.
Robert Richard Castona Jr., 79, was charged with a violation of NC General Statute 14-277.2, titled “Weapons at Parades, etc., prohibited.” He was issued a citation and was released pending his court date.
