THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A man was found dead inside a home in Thomasville Saturday night, police say.
Thomasville police said they responded to a shooting on Savannah Lane around 11:15 p.m. where they found 30-year-old Derrick Ealey, of Winston-Salem, dead from a gunshot wound.
According to a release, investigation revealed that Jonte Lamar Matthews, of Browns Summit, was responsible for the shooting death of Ealey. Ealey and Matthews are said to have known each other.
Matthews turned himself in to the Thomasville Police Department early Sunday morning and was charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Davidson County Jail without bond.
Matthews is set for his first appearance on Aug. 28 in Davidson County court.
