Man charged with murder after stabbing in Mocksville

Deputies said they responded to the 200 block of Gwyn Street on a report of a stabbing.

MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — A man is facing a murder charge after a stabbing in Mocksville.

The Davie County Sheriff's Office said they responded to the 200 block of Gwyn Street on a report of a stabbing Friday shortly before midnight.

Deputies arrived and found Mark Randall Dukes, 62, had been stabbed multiple times.

Investigators declared Dukes dead.

Deputies said the suspect Danny Earl Carter, 32, had ran away from the scene.

Deputies were able to find Carter and take him into custody in Mocksville around 9 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said Carter and Dukes knew each other and might have been involved in a disturbance at the time of the stabbing.

The Davie County Sheriff's Office said Carter is charged with murder.
