WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One man is dead and another is in custody after a Saturday morning shooting in Winston-Salem, according to police.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said officers responded to 1449 Peace Court on Saturday morning at approximately 7:55 a.m. after receiving a call of a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found 36-year-old Lomark Dean Cameron with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He died at the scene despite receiving lifesaving efforts from emergency personnel.
The WSPD said it arrested Darrin Leroy Perry on scene and charged him with both felony murder and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted fellon.
Perry is currently being held without bond at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. His first scheduled court appearance is Monday, November 4.
According to investigators, Perry and Cameron are related. They said the two were hanging out at Perry's apartment "when a verbal and physical altercation occurred, which led to Mr. Perry shooting Mr. Cameron."
