GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is charged with attempted first-degree murder after shooting a woman in the face while she was in bed overnight Tuesday, Greensboro police say.

Around 2:20 a.m., officers responded to Niagara Street about a shooting. They found Brianna Laray Lee, 28, in bed upstairs with injuries to her face that appeared to be from a gunshot. She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Investigation led to the arrest of Cheavez Ajee Clapp, 27, on charges of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Clapp and Lee had a personal relationship. His motive for shooting her is unknown at this time.
