ASHEBORO, N.C. — Deputies said they found the man who they believe stabbed his grandfather to death in Asheboro.
25-year-old Brian King was found at a hotel in Cornelius, North Carolina around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a release. He was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served an arrest warrant for felony murder.
Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened at a home on Emmanuel Church Road. Deputies said 25-year-old Brian King stabbed his 74-year-old grandfather Harold King to death before driving away in a red 2000 Chevy Silverado with his grandmother.
Investigators said King’s grandmother was dropped off in Thomasville where she called 911. That's when deputies went to the home in Asheboro and found Harold dead. King's grandmother was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries but is OK.
Mooresville police found the car King was driving early Saturday but did not find King at that point.
Detectives haven’t said why King attacked his grandfather or what led up to the incident.
King is being held in jail with no bond. His first court appearance is April 5, 2021.
