Man Accused Of Stabbing Drinking Buddy With Letter Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It was just another night of drinking and fighting for two friends in Fort Caroline. But on this night, things turned more violent than usual when a Jacksonville man allegedly grabbed a letter opener and stabbed his friend in the stomach.

According to an arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 60-year-old William Walch stabbed his drinking buddy with a sharp letter opener in the stomach Tuesday night after an alcohol-fueled argument at the Viilas Bridgepoint Apartments.

The 47-year-old victim told JSO that he and Walch drink together regularly and sometimes verbal arguments come to blows.

The victim, who was extremely drunk according to JSO, was taken from the Monument Road apartments to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries following the stabbing.

Walch, who allegedly confessed to the crime, was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
