BURLINGTON, N.C. — Two juveniles are in custody after robbing a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint in Burlington Sunday, police say.

The robbery happened shortly after midnight on the 1100 block of Chandler Avenue.

Officers said the driver told them that he was robbed by two young males, one with a gun. The suspects tried to steal money and take the delivery bag with the food inside. During the altercation, the driver said he sustained injuries to his lip after being hit in the face by one of the suspects.

The driver did not require any medical attention.

Officers set up a perimeter and deployed a K-9 to track the suspects. The K-9 successfully found the thermal delivery bag and continued to track leading officers to a house on the 700 block of Sharpe Road.

The homeowner gave officers consent, and they were able to find evidence of the crime, including a pizza box and a gun. The gun had been reported stolen from Greenville.

On Monday, the juveniles were both taken into custody. Due to the age of the suspects, their names will not be released.

This investigation is ongoing.
