STOKES COUNTY, N.C. -- The Stokes County Sheriff's Office says a juvenile was taken into custody on Monday after making a threat toward West Stokes High School.
The threat was made on social media around 8:15 a.m. Monday. As a precaution, all Stokes County Schools sheltered in place. Parents were notified about an increased presence of law enforcement.
Detectives worked with school personnel during the investigation, and shortly after school was dismissed, investigators identified the juvenile responsible for making the threat.
The Sheriff's Office says the case was referred to the NC DPS Juvenile Justice. The juvenile's name is not being released per North Carolina law.
