GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police said they arrested the Executive Director of the Interactive Resource Center for shoplifting.
Records show Kristina Singleton was arrested Thursday for four counts of larceny. She's accused of shoplifting from Target stores on Lawndale Drive and Bridford Parkway between December 14 and December 20.
The IRC, located in downtown Greensboro, provides resources to those experiencing homelessness.
The organization's Board of Directors shared a statement regarding the arrest:
"The Interactive Resource Center’s board of directors was recently made aware of an alleged incident involving the IRC Executive Director Kristina Singleton. It happened during her personal time and in no way impacted the IRC, its operations, its mission, or its finances. Kristina herself brought it to the board’s attention and was forthright in addressing the concerns and questions of the board.
The IRC’s core values revolve around second chances, supporting people where they are with dignity, and offering a helping hand to anyone in need. In support of Kristina and her wellness, we are continuing to focus on those core values.
Effective today, Kristina plans to take a personal sabbatical. During her absence, the staff and board will continue to support the IRC’s work and programming while ensuring that the non-profit remains true to its mission, safeguards its assets, and operates in the public interest.
We again offer our support to Kristina, to the IRC staff, and to the guests that we serve, and our gratitude to the community for its support of our organization, mission, and values," the IRC Board of Directors said.
