GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Guilford County judge denied a woman bond Friday after investigators said she stabbed a man to death and killed his cat.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 38-year-old Lauren Fullerton.
She’s charged with first-degree murder and cruelty to animals.
She made her first appearance in court Friday afternoon.
Prosecutors said Fullerton called 911 four times Thursday night. They said she told deputies on scene about fentanyl use, and went on to say she stabbed somebody to death after a disagreement.
Prosecutors said Fullerton also admitted to killing the victim’s cat.
Deputies identified the victim as 59-year-old Todd Arnold.
Investigators said he was stabbed several times in his own home on Venus Drive.
During court, prosecutors said Fullerton told deputies that Arnold and his car had been dead for a couple days. Deputies said neighbors reported they were concerned about Arnold and his cat.
Prosecutors also said in addition to the stab wounds, Arnold had blunt force trauma to his head.
One neighbor told WFMY News 2 that Arnold lived in his home for over a decade and she couldn’t believe something like this happened next door.
Deputies said there is no threat to the community, and this was an isolated crime.
We don’t know the relationship between the suspect and victim or why she was at his home in the first place.
Fullerton could face life without parole or even the death penalty. Prosecutors said she has a history of drug use and they recommend a mental health evaluation.
