RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened in Randolph County on Wednesday morning.
According to a press release, troopers responded to a report of a crash on US-311 near Brookwood Acres Drive in Randolph County at approximately 7:43 a.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, they determined that 44-year-old Samuel Hubern Lilly, of Randleman, was struck by a car that crossed the centerline as he walked north in the southbound lane of US-311.
Investigators said Lilly died on scene. They are now looking for a suspect vehicle — a 2005-2011 grey Toyota Tacoma truck. Highway Patrol says the suspect vehicle will likely have visible damage to its front passenger side fender.
Below is a picture of the type of car the suspect might be driving. It is not the actual suspect vehicle.
