High Point Police Make Arrest in 1986 Murder Case

A man is in the Guilford County Detention Center in High Point charged with a murder that happened 29 years ago

HIGH POINT, N.C.-- A man is in the Guilford County Detention Center in High Point charged with a murder that happened 29 years ago this month. 

According to High Point Police, DNA has linked 50-year-old David Wayne Scarborough to the death of Zella McGee, 81. McGee was found dead inside her burning home in October 1986. 

Scarborough was booked into the jail with no bond. An additional $1 million bond was added to the bond for other charges. 

Investigators didn't reveal information on those charges or how Scarborough became a suspect in the case.
