High Point police identify suspect in Heidi Drive officer-involved shooting

High Point police identified Brian Burrow as the suspect dead after responding to a domestic call at a home on Heidi Drive.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police release the identity of the suspect dead in the officer-involved shooting on Heidi Drive on Monday. The mugshot above is from previous charges.

Officers said they received a call about 30-year-old Brian Burrow who was in a rage and tearing up the inside of a home on Heidi Drive in High Point.

The caller had been inside the home with the individual and left to call 911.

When the officer arrived, they began de-escalating a suspect outside a home on the 3900 block of Heidi Drive at the back door of the patio. Police said after a short conversation with the man, he moved away from the door and came back with a scoped rifle.

Police said an officer shot the suspect and then immediately entered the house to begin CPR.

Investigators say the suspect died at the scene.

No officers were injured.

"We will let the SBI do their thing. I think that’s the right thing to do. They are pretty comprehensive in their investigations. They have a lot of experience in this so we will rely on them to handle their business and then once they finish, we will turn it over to our shooting review team," High Point Chief of Police, Travis Stroud said.

Officials also said an officer is on administrative duty until further notice as this is standard protocol.

This investigation is ongoing.
