HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man is in jail after being accused of setting a home on fire and making threats in High Point, police say.
Just before noon on Saturday, High Point police and fire crews responded to an arson call in the 1600 block of E. Green Drive. Officers found fire accelerant throughout the home and two piles of ashes.
No one was inside the house when the police arrived.
On Monday, 40-year-old Ron Hunt threatened to go back to the home on E. Green Drive and burn it down. He also threatened to burn down someone else's home.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested Hunt. He is charged with communicating threats, second-degree arson, and injury to personal property.
Hunt is also charged with burning of personal property due to a dumpster fire in the 2800 block of S. Main Street.
Fire crews responded to the fire on Monday and determined the fire was intentionally set.
Officers arrested Hunt three times in February, including two charges related to burning property. He was also charged with attempted murder and first-degree arson in 2002. He spent more than 9 years in prison.
