HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point Police Department announced that it charged a man with 30 counts of sexual battery Thursday following a months-long investigation.
According to officials, James R. Murphey, 44, was arrested at his home Thursday in High Point. The charges stem from a string of offenses in 2023 while Murphey was working at a local church. After originally investigating a reported sexual assault in January, investigators went on to identify several victims between the ages of 16 and 19 years old at the time of the assaults.
No other information will be released about the victims.
