Gunned Down Greensboro Father Leaves Behind 5 Children

Ronald McCray died after being shot on Patio Place in Greensboro last week. Now, his family speaks about an arrest.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- "I'm broken. It's over. I can never be the same again," said Kalind McCray, the oldest son of Ronald McCray.

Too many tears.

"I was with that man forever. I loved him, and I will always love him," said Zxaviere Edelstein, who has been in a relationship with Ronald McCray for more than 20 years, and is the mother of three of their kids.

Too many families sifting through their favorite photos, trying to find the perfect one for an obituary.

"I won't hear him say ' hey mom I love you,' or 'hey mom I'll talk to you.' I won't hear that anymore," said Cynthia McCray, Ronald's mother.

Ronald McCray died after being shot on Patio Place in Greensboro last week. He leaves behind five children.

Now, a mother is left to bury her son.

"I have watched TV so many times, and seen mother's where their child was taken away from them, and I've always said I never want to feel like that, but now I'm feeling like that," said Cynthia McCray.

Today, a little good news.

Police arrested Saequan Jackson for McCray's murder.

"That's closure. Not only for that family, but for that officer as well," said Deputy Chief James Hinson, with the Greensboro Police Department.

An arrest in McCray's case is one of many from Greensboro Police recently. Last week, police arrested Lawrence Baird for the double murder of two NC A&T students. That same week, Bobby Jones was arrested for a murder on Sumner Ridge Lane.

Greensboro Police says these big arrests, are because of you.

"The more the community trusts the police department, the more they will continue to share that information with us," said Deputy Chief Hinson.

While an arrest is welcome news, until there are no victims, McCray's family says there will always be too many.

"When my heart beats, it's like his heart beats, and I'm never going to be the same," said Edelstein powering through tears.
