GREENSBORO, N.C. — People who live off of Summit Ave. and Hicone Rd. woke up to the sound of gunshots. Others who had already left for work rushed back home when doorbell camera alerted their phones.
"I looked at my ring camera only to see that there were officers with their guns drawn in my front yard," said Shelia Mounce who lives in the area.
Mounce gave WFMY News 2 Ring doorbell video that was taken one street over which shows an officer walking through a yard with a long gun. In the video, you can hear the officer tell neighbors, "Go back inside."
Friday morning multiple agencies blocked off Candlenut and Pindals Rd. as they investigated the shooting.
"Once I got here, I was not allowed to go down the street, I was told it was an active shooter scene," said Mounce.
Later in the day, the roads were opened up, except for the back part of Candlenut Rd. that's where Guilford County deputies took a suspect into custody accused of firing a gun.
Tire marks and bullet holes remain in what people say is usually a quiet neighborhood.
Greensboro police, Guilford County deputies, and State highway patrol troopers went out to the scene around 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.
Little is known about the suspect; deputies say he was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.
This is a developing story.
