Guilford County detention officer charged in fraud investigation

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A Guilford County detention center officer is no longer employed at the Sheriff's Office following a fraud investigation, according to the office. 

A fraud investigation was initiated by the Guilford County Sheriff's Office Investigative Unit. 

Sheriff Danny Rogers said that on Saturday, as a result of the investigation, former detention officer Brandon Tyrese Richardson turned himself in and served a criminal charge.

Richardson is charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense. He was released by a magistrate on a written promise to appear.
