Greensboro Shooting Suspect Arrested in TN: Police

Greensboro Police say the shooting happened shortly after noon on Monday at 901 Benjamin Benson Street.

GREENSBORO, NC - The suspect in Monday's shooting that killed one and injured another was taken into custody early Tuesday morning in West Knoxville, Tenn.

The Knoxville Police Department arrested Adrian Lamont Hickman, 34, without incident at his mother's home at around 1:30 a.m. Hickman is accused of killing Charles Edward Smith, Jr., outside of an apartment at Ray Warren Homes yesterday. Smith is believed to be the intended target in the shooting and was pronounced dead after being taken to Moses Cone Hospital.

Yolanda Michelle Rogers, 28, of Decatur St., was also shot and taken to the hospital. Rogers was treated and released.

Hickman's last known address is 1236 Woodbriar Dr. in Greensboro.

Greensboro Police say the shooting happened shortly after noon on Monday at 901 Benjamin Benson Street. Officers found Smith with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle outside the apartments.

Rogers was transported by personal vehicle to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Police say this is Greensboro's 19th homicide of 2017.
