Graham woman given $1M bond after running over 4, killing 1

On Monday, an Alamance County Judge set bond for a Graham woman who's accused of running over four people and leaving one of them dead.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — On Monday, a Graham woman was in court, charged with second-degree murder and more than a half dozen charges after she ran over four people leaving one dead, according to deputies.

Judge Bryan Norris placed Tamyiah Lakerria Anderson, 21, on a $1 million bond and her next court appearance is on July 15.

"The defendant on the scene inebriated with an altercation with several of the victims," Norris said. "A second altercation she went to the vehicle someone tried to stop her and it was unsuccessful. She then drove straight at four individuals killing one of them. Based on the nature of these allegations, I will be imposing a $1 million secure bond."

The deadly crash happened on Friday at a Graham mobile home park, just before 11 p.m., according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office (ACSO). Police responded to the crash on E. Simpson Road in Green Level.

When law enforcement arrived, they discovered four people in the road that had been hit by a car.

It all stemmed from a couple of fights, one happening after the other.

Witnesses told deputies that Anderson then got into her car and hit four pedestrians, two of whom were dragged by the vehicle, killing Brendy Janet Garcia Resendiz, 22, of Graham. The prosecution said Anderson and Resendiz drove to the mobile home park, planning to confront someone.

The other victim who was dragged was seriously injured and is still undergoing surgeries. Two other victims had minor injuries.

Deputies said Anderson then crashed her car into a concrete barrier at a nearby mobile home park.

In court on Monday, the prosecution also claimed that deputies found a tequila bottle in Anderson's car.

On Sunday, WFMY News 2 went to the neighborhood and spoke to some people who said they saw the suspect, Anderson, disoriented and hurt.

"She was conscious and crying, she was just talking about how her arm and her leg hurt a lot," Alyanna Lara recalled.

"She was shaking and said her head was hurting," Virginia Gonzalez said.

Both neighbors said they did not see the deadly events that allegedly happened up the road, but they recall East Simpson flooded with law enforcement that night.

Anderson was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, she was then released.

Deputies said Anderson was charged with:

  • One count of second-degree murder
  • Three counts of felony assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill

State Troopers charged Anderson with:

  • One count of Driving While Impaired
  • One count of Possession of Open Container of Alcohol
  • One count of Resist, Delay, Obstruct Officer
  • One count of Driving Left of Center
  • One count of Seatbelt Violation
