Teen arrested for first-degree murder after deadly shooting on in W. Cornwallis Drive in Greensboro

Greensboro police said a man is dead and another person was injured.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 16-year-old boy was charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill on Aug. 2, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

The teen is accused of killing one man and injuring another person in a shooting on West Cornwallis Drive in Greensboro on the morning of July 19.

Greensboro police said a person arrived at the Greensboro Fire Station 5 at 1401 Westover Terrace suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man said he had been shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive where there was also another person that had been shot.

The man was then taken to the hospital to be treated. He was then released

Officers responded to the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive around 10 a.m. where they found a person suffering from life-threatening injuries. 

Greensboro police identified the person as Christopher Bennet, 30, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen suspect was taken into custody on Aug. 10.
