GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of operating a fencing scam is wanted in multiple North Carolina counties, including right here in the Triad.
Guilford County Sheriff's Office said it needs the public's help finding 53-year-old Milton Gray, Jr. He faces charges of felony property by false pretense in two cases from 2019 and 2023.
GCSO said in the most recent case, the victim was out $7,500 for a job that was supposed to be completed in October. In the 2019 case, the victim was out $1,200.
According to the sheriff's office, Gray uses various company names to sell fencing. He then gets his victim to sign a contract and requests some money up front for installation. After he's got the money, he then reportedly stops returning the victim's phone calls and never gets the job done.
Detectives said it's not just in Guilford County that he's accused of doing this. GCSO said there have been dozens of reports on Gray for the same fraudulent behavior in surrounding areas dating back to the early 2000s. He currently has outstanding warrants for fraud in Alamance County (2017) and the Charlotte area (2020).
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
