RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A father and son were arrested for assaulting their neighbors in Randolph County, deputies say.

On Saturday, deputies responded to Old Thomasville Road in reference to a reported assault.

A victim shared evidence of an assault by two neighbors and the motive was unclear. EMS arrived and evaluated the victim who had some injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Based on the statement provided and evidence, deputies tried to find the suspects at a nearby house but couldn't reach anyone at the home.

Investigation revealed that charges were sought against 24-year-old Tony Mashburn Jr. for multiple charges including strangulation. His father, Tony Mashburn Sr., 56, had charges sought against him for misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury.

The magistrate found the probable cause based on the testimony to issue warrants for arrest.

On Monday, both Mashburn Jr. and Sr. were found and arrested and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their warrant.

Mashburn Jr. was issued no bond, and first appearance was set for Tuesday. Mashburn Sr. was issued a $3,000 bond and appeared in court Tuesday as well.
