THOMASVILLE, N.C. — An armed robbery suspect was subdued by an employee and held until police arrived, according to the Thomasville Police Department.

It happened at the Pure Mobile on 1 Unity St. on Saturday, Dec. 2 around 8:53 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found an employee detaining the suspect behind the counter.

Employees told police a man walked into the store and started walking behind the counter. Once the suspect approached an employee behind the counter, he punched them in the face. The suspect then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the employee's face. The employee then grabbed the firearm, starting a struggle between the two. During the struggle, the suspect fired the firearm in the direction of the employee's head, narrowly missing the employee and striking the vent hood to the fryer. The struggle continued until the employee was able to gain control of the suspect and held him down until police arrived.

As officers placed the suspect into custody, the suspect assaulted an officer in an attempt to run off.

Police said 24-year-old Cortor Jackon of High Point was charged with the following:

  • Attempted murder
  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Assault on a government official

He's being held without bond.

This investigation is ongoing.
