Man dead after shooting on Leight Street in Winston-Salem

Officers said they found a man inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police said a man is dead after a shooting in Winston-Salem Thursday. 

Winston-Salem police said they responded to the 1900 block of Leight Street around 8 a.m. for a security check.

Officers said they found Barry Bevionta Richardson, 32, inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds.

EMS arrived and pronounced Richardson dead.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the WSPD Criminal Investigations Division.

Police said at this time the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.
