DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A man is arrested after firing off his rifle out the door of his home in Davidson County, deputies say.

On Saturday, deputies responded to Ellwood Circle about an intoxicated man shooting out the door of his mobile home and then walking down the road with a gun.

They observed Willie Johnson walking down Lacy Hepler Road with a sawed-off shotgun when they arrived. Johnson ignored commands and continued to walk away from deputies.

After a brief standoff, deputies were able to talk to Johnson into dropping the shotgun. As they approached him, he became combative, continuing to resist and be non-compliant.

Johnson was taken into custody with the assistance of a taser. He was then charged with many charges including possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
