GREENSBORO, N.C. — Chemistry Nightclub, a Greensboro LGBTQ+ nightclub, was broken into and robbed. They are asking the Greensboro community to unite and "be better".
In photos the nightclub shared on Facebook, there is a large, shattered hole in the front door by the handle.
The club was robbed of nine bottles of liquor, but the nightclub told WFMY News 2 there was a jar of money left untouched by the robbers.
The damage to the door and stolen liquor has hit the small business hard while it is experiencing slower-than-usual nights.
"No matter how hard things get, breaking into small businesses is NOT the answer," wrote the nightclub.
However, they will not be letting this incident bring them down. The small business ordered a new door and is asking patrons to come by to support them.
"Your presence, your patronage, and your belief in what Chemistry represents are what will carry us through," wrote the nightclub.
Despite the upsetting robbery and damage to their business, the team showed empathy. They urged the Greensboro community to come together and lean on each other during challenging times.
"If you’re struggling, come talk to us. If you need a bottle of liquor so badly, ask us. If you need a job, we’ll do our best to help you find one," they wrote. "Greensboro, we know you can do better. You are better than this."
