HIGH POINT, N.C. — A Charlotte teen was arrested in connection with multiple car thefts in High Point back in December 2023, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office.
On December 17, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a business on Auction Road in High Point for an alarm call.
Investigators determined that numerous cars were stolen, and the suspects were juveniles from the Charlotte area. Three cars were recovered and returned to the business and an additional vehicle was found and recovered in Charlotte several days later.
Charges were sought against Anthony Chris Celis, 17 for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and a warrant was given for his arrest.
On June 1, 2024, Celis was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department where he was taken to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center and served his warrant. He was given a $50,000 bond with a first appearance set for June 24 in Randolph County District Court.
The police department's SCARLET (Stolen Car and Recovery Law Enforcement Team) division was able to identify Celis as a suspect in several of their cases and charged him with numerous felonies and misdemeanors. He was also served with these warrants and received an additional $650,000 bond.
During the investigation, two other juveniles were identified, and petitions were sought regarding their involvement in this incident. This investigation is ongoing.
