'It's hard to believe she's gone' | Close friend of corrections officer killed mourns the loss

Danielle Hines was shot and killed, along with one of her children, in Caswell County.

CASWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Terror entered a home on Saturday on Cherry Grove Road in Reidsville, on the Caswell County side.

The Caswell County Sheriff's office said they found four people shot.

Deputies said 37-year-old Danielle Hines died, along with one of her children who was just a 9th grader.

Two of her other children were shot but are recovering.

Caswell County Schools said they all went to school there.

Two of them went to Bartlett Yancey High School and one attended Stoney Creek Elementary.

"I'm still processing," said Trisha Boone a friend of Hines. "I feel for her family I feel for her kids, her kid's dad I just feel for all of them."

Trisha Boone has known Hines and her family for nearly 18 years.

"It's hard to believe she's gone. It was a shock," Boone said. "She was a thoughtful person and genuinely cared about everyone. I don't think she had a bad bone in her body."

The family said Hines' boyfriend Anthony Siler is responsible.

He was also the father of one of the youngest kids.

He shot and killed himself later that day as Alamance County deputies pulled him over.

"I was heartbroken for both parties even him you know it was an all-around really bad satiation," Boone said. "I feel for both sides. I'm not going to take sides I feel for both of them."

It's still not clear what led to such terror for the family.

"At this point, all we can do is help them in any way we can," Boone said.

Boone tells me the two other children are healing and doing as best they can given the circumstances.
