Card skimmers found at registers in High Point Walmart

Anyone who used their EBT card in December at the High Point Walmart on South and North Main Street is urged to check their account for fraudulent activity.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police officers are urging anyone who used an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card at Walmart in December to change the card’s PIN and check the account for fraudulent activity ASAP!

Officers said there were point-of-sale (POS) skimmers on the cash registers inside the Walmart stores located at 2628 South Main Street and 2710 North Main Street.

Investigators say many of the victims receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

People are urged to call and check their account balance immediately.

To request a card replacement, contact the local Department of Social Services office or call 336-641-3000. Police also recommend people create an EBT EDGE account and place a block on out-of-state and online transactions.

Victims can report fraudulent activity to the High Point Police Department by calling 336-883-3224. They can also make a report in person at the High Point Police Department located at 1730 Westchester Drive.

Investigators have learned this fraudulent activity may be happening in other local counties.
