2 charged after series of car break-ins, Lexington Police Department says

Police said the two men face charges for seven counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Two men have been arrested and charged after a series of car break-ins, according to the Lexington Police Department. 

On Nov. 14 at 3:39 a.m., the Lexington Police Department responded to a report of breaking and entering at a residence on Williams Street. 

Avauntae Newell, 18, and Brishawn Brown, 19, fled from officers on foot. 

Newell and Brown were arrested and charged with seven counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, felony financial card theft, first-degree burglary, and resisting a public officer.

Police said Newell has a $65,000 secured bond for all current charges except burglary and is being held without bond on the burglary charge. 

Brown has a $45,000 secured bond for all current charges except burglary and is being held without bond on the burglary charge.
