GREENSBORO, N.C. β A family is trying to make sense of a tragedy.
Calysta Martin died Sunday after a shooting on West Gate City Boulevard.
The family said Martin lived on the street and believed a stray bullet hit her and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
As police try to figure out exactly what happened, her loved ones want to know why.
Memories displayed on Kamora Cater's sweatshirt are just a snapshot of the bond she said she had with her big sister Calysta Martin.
"It was unbreakable. I could feel her pain she could feel mine," Carter said. "I'm devastated. I'll never be Okay. That's one thing I do know I'll never be okay."
Caters said she talked to her sister every day.
"I talked to her an hour before an hour before," Carter said.
An hour before Greensboro police said the 25-year-old was shot Sunday morning.
"I was on the phone call with my mom and I was like do you think she can hang on until I get there," said Dasean Lott, Martin's brother. " I want to see my sister just one more time, just one more time."
Martin died shortly after that call and Lott saw his sister for the last time on a Facetime call at the hospital.
He flew in from Florida to help the family get through this tragedy.
"I have a guilt I was supposed to protect her from things like that," Lott said. 'It was too much for me."
Police are looking into why the shooting happened and who's responsible.
Family has started a GoFundMe to pay for funeral expenses.
"This was something she didn't deserve she loved everyone she took care of everyone," Lott said.
While the family waits to get justice for Calysta's death, they plan to hold a memorial and balloon release Wednesday.
