WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem teacher is facing charges of indecent liberties with a student.
Winston-Salem police said that officers responded to the 130 block of South Peace Haven Road in reference to a report of a teacher from Calvary Day School engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student on May 9.
According to Cavalry Day School, they found out about the allegations against Kevin Campbell on May 8. They immediately reported this to the Winston-Salem Police Department and placed Campbell on leave.
Campbell was eventually fired on June 3. He was a P.E. teacher as well as a Bible teacher at the school.
WSPD's Patrol Division initially responded and then their Criminal Investigations Division (CID), and Special Victims Unit (SVU) assumed investigative responsibility.
SVU continued to investigate and as a result Kevin Edward Campbell, 33, was taken into custody and charged Thursday.
Campbell was charged with two felony counts of Indecent Liberties with a Student. Campbell appeared before a Magistrate where he received a bond unsecured in the amount of $150,000.
He is set to appear in court Friday.
Campbell has been released from jail.
