18-year-old charged with attempted murder in connection with Aug. 23 Burlington shooting

Multiple people on scene reported they were shot at, but no one was injured.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Burlington Police Department has made an arrest connected to a shooting that occurred on Aug. 23 at the intersection of Madison Street and Jackson Street.

On Aug. 23, officers responded to a call of shots being fired. After arriving, they located a car that had been hit by gunfire. "Multiple victims and witnesses" said they were shot at by unknown suspects. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

After an investigation by the department's Criminal Investigations Division, Damion Eduardo Tate was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm inside of an enclosure to incite fear and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.

Tate is being held without bond at the Alamance County Detention Center.

The Burlington Police Department is still looking for information in this case, though they did not say whether any additional suspects are at large. Anyone with information can call the BPD at 336-229-3500. You can also provide tips to Alamance County-Wide Crimestoppers at 336-229-7100.
